University and Career Guidance

We aim for our pupils to leave school equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to make informed choices about their future careers.
As a school, we align with the 'Good Career Guidance' by taking the following steps:

Providing a Stable Careers Programme
From Year 7 onwards, all pupils have access to a dedicated careers advisor and a careers curriculum tailored to their individual interests and needs.

Helping Pupils Learn from Career Information
We regularly host guest speakers from various industries to share insights about their professions with pupils across the school.

Addressing Each Pupil’s Individual Needs
We work closely with students to understand their unique aspirations and interests, providing personalised support to help them pursue their chosen career paths.

Linking Curriculum Learning to Careers
We ensure pupils understand how their academic subjects relate to real-world careers and how their learning can be applied in professional contexts.

Encounters with Employers and Employees
We welcome professionals from a wide range of sectors to speak with pupils about their careers and encourage participation in workplace visits and job shadowing.

Experiences of Workplaces
We arrange work experience placements for pupils in Year 10 and Year 12, providing them with practical exposure to various work environments and industries.

Encounters with Further and Higher Education
We host representatives from universities and colleges to present educational pathways to our pupils, and organise visits to institutions.

Personal Guidance
All pupils have access to one-to-one support from careers advisors. These advisors assist with identifying skills and interests, exploring career options, writing CVs and cover letters, and preparing for interviews.
